Sammie Jurichko, a case manager for Meridian Services for more than three years, says that the opportunity to volunteer, “sold me on the job and has kept me here. Headwaters is my favorite thing about being a part of the Meridian team.” Meridian Services, an affiliate of Orion Associates, has long supported volunteerism among its employees.
For Sammie, volunteering has also been a big part of her family life (her parents met as volunteers at Eastside Neighborhood House). Whether it is with her faith community or joining Headwaters in its relief work in Haiti, volunteering is an integral part of her life. “Not only is it an opportunity to give back, volunteering is a great way of meeting new people and building camaraderie among co-workers,” she says.
“It is just so powerful and meaningful to be a part of Headwaters – to have an impact on even one person’s life and to see how that can be passed along. It makes a profound difference.”
For 2014, Sammie received the President’s Volunteer Gold Service Award from Points of Light Foundation through the Center for National and Community Service. The award recognizes individuals with 500 annual volunteer hours. Congratulations and thank you Sammie for your outstanding generosity!
